Nuclear energy will embrace the era with great opportunities
"Develop the nuclear power actively, safely and orderly" is a specific requirement in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and China's 14th Five-Year Plan, which indicates the principal direction for the development of national nuclear power industry. As safe, efficient and stable low-carbon energy, nuclear power plays an important role in the energy power supply, support for economic and social development, and promotion of green transformation. Under the background of the dual-carbon target and the policy of "Develop the nuclear power actively, safely and orderly", nuclear energy would definitely embrace the era with strategic opportunities.
Nuclear power is not affected by seasons or weather, and runs as a zero-carbon clean energy source which can provide electricity steadily at any time. In 2022, total countrywide installed capacity of nuclear power only accounted for 2.2% of total installed power capacity in China; however it contributed about 5% of electricity generation, being equivalent to the reduction of standard coal by around 120 million tons and to emission reduction of carbon dioxide by around 310 million tons. This April, Working Committee of Nuclear Energy Think Tank of the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association predicted in the "Research on China's nuclear power Development under the Double carbon Goal" that in 2030 and 2035, China's nuclear power installed capacity will reach 110 million and 150 million kilowatts correspondingly, almost 3 times the growth rate per decade, and electricity generation at that time will also account for 7% and 10% of total electricity generation in China.
Nuclear power could make the sky bluer. Taking Shenzhen Daya Bay nuclear power base as an example, 6 MkW nuclear power units generate 45 billion kWh of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the reduction of coal consumption by nearly 15-million tons, and emission reduction of carbon dioxide by above 30-million tons and sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other harmful gases by hundreds of thousands of tons. It is equivalent to 100,000 hectares of forest, which can cover half of Shenzhen city.
Nuclear Power Dazzles Peng City again
Shenzhen plays a role of forward position of China's reform and opening up, and also the pioneer of China's nuclear energy industry. Unit 1 of China's first large-scale commercial nuclear power plant, Shenzhen Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, was connected to the grid in 1993.
On November 15, the 2nd Shenzhen Nuclear Exhibition will be held along with the Top 1 Science Exhibition of the 25th China Hi-Tech Fair (referred to as CHTF). It forecasts that Nuclear Power, the high technology industry in the public, would definitely be the same dazzling as CHTF.
The 2nd CINIE chooses Nuclear Gather in Greater Bay Active Leading the World as the theme which has the area more than 60,000 m2, above a thousand exhibitors and more than 150,000 visitors. Central enterprises and foreign enterprises will attend this exhibition solemnly. The former includes China National Nuclear Corporation, China Huaneng, China Datang, State Power Investment Corporation, National Energy Corporation, China General Nuclear Power Corporation, and the latter consists of ABB, EDF, Famatone and Orano. They would discuss matters of vital importance and draw a blueprint of nuclear power development.

In November 2022, as soon as the first CINIE made its debut, it had showed the level and positioning as a world-class nuclear exposition. It had above 600 exhibitors, more than 5,000 new product categories, more than 100,000 visitors, and more than a million person time of live online viewing, which showed the extraordinary influence.
As the first nuclear energy event to practice the instruction of "Actively and steadily promote carbon peak carbon neutralization" after the "the 20th", Shenzhen Nuclear Expo actively responded to the major deployment of requirements on construction for modern industrial system, implemented the national Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan, Shenzhen's "20+8" new energy industry plan, and promoted technological innovation in China's nuclear energy industry. It converges increasingly industry talents for the development of China and even the world nuclear power industry.
