The project involves the installation of 16 wind turbines on monopiles and covers an area of 31.1 square kilometres south of Kalundborg, east of the Great Belt, between the peninsulas of Asnæs and Reersø.

The landfall cables will be brought ashore at the coast of Østrup, after which they will be routed to a new transformer station at the Kalundborg refinery. The connection point will be Energinet’s existing high-voltage station at Asnæsværket.
The individual turbines will have a height of 256 metres, and the Jammerland Bugt offshore wind project will have a total capacity of 240 MW.
The establishment permit includes several conditions aimed at protecting the environment. Among these are specific measures for the handling of bats and porpoises, both of which are impacted by offshore wind turbines, said DEA.
Wind turbines should either stop or rotate slowly after sunset when wind speeds are below 6 m/s, between 1 April and 31 October. This ‘cut-in-speed’ measure is implemented to protect bats, according to the agency.
Additionally, the DEA stated that a double bubble curtain must be used during the installation of monopiles. This measure is designed to reduce construction noise and minimise the impact on porpoises in the surrounding area.
In March 2024, the DEA approved the feasibility study report, consisting of an environmental impact report, for Jammerland Bugt.
The offshore wind farm is planned to begin operation in 2029. European Energy is the developer and currently the sole owner of the 240 MW project, in which TotalEnergies is expected to acquire an 85 per cent stake following an agreement the two companies signed in January.
European Energy recently got the construction permit for another offshore wind farm in Denmark, Lillebaelt Syd.
As part of the agreement, TotalEnergies will become the majority owner of both offshore wind farms in Denmark.
