The project includes a PPA secured through collaboration with Meta and Idaho Power.
The project operates under a power purchase agreement (PPA) established through collaboration with Meta and Idaho Power, supported by an energy services agreement. This initiative strengthens the region’s renewable energy infrastructure and supports sustainable energy goals.
Matrix Renewables managing director and US head Cindy Tindell stated: “We are thrilled to celebrate the commissioning of the Pleasant Valley solar project. This achievement underscores our commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure and contributing to local communities. We are grateful for the collaborative efforts of our partners, offtakers, financiers and the supporting community who made this project possible.”
Construction of the facility, finalized on March 2, 2025, was led by Sundt Renewables, the engineering, procurement, and construction services provider. The project employed 220 workers, contributing to local economic activity during its development.
rPlus Energies president and CEO Luigi Resta stated: “We are proud to see Pleasant Valley Solar come to life. We started developing this project in 2021 and it’s especially meaningful for us as Ada County is home to one of our two offices, allowing us to connect with the local community in a deeper way. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Idaho Power and Meta and further contributing to their energy future.”
In addition, rPlus Energies is advancing Pleasant Valley Solar 2, an expansion project with a capacity of 125 MWac/162 MWdc. In November 2024, the company secured a PPA with Idaho Power and Meta for this second phase. Both solar projects will supply renewable energy to Idaho Power’s grid and enable Meta to power its data center in Kuna, Idaho, with 100% renewable energy.
These developments highlight a commitment to expanding clean energy solutions in Idaho, fostering local partnerships, and supporting sustainable operations for major industries in the region.
