Residents are invited to attend the first round of public exhibitions to learn about the project and share their views. The events are scheduled as follows: 22 April at New Cumnock Bowling Club, 23 April at Logan Day Centre, and 24 April at Netherthird Community Centre. These sessions aim to engage the community in shaping the project’s design.
Aileen McCreadie, OnPath Energy’s partnerships and community manager, said: “We’re keen for as many residents as possible to come along to the upcoming exhibitions and be part of shaping what this wind farm could look like. These sessions are a crucial step for us, we’re not here to simply present plans, we’re here to listen, to understand local priorities, and where possible to reflect them in the final proposals.”
The proposed wind farm, located 3.5 km east of Netherthird, could include turbines with a maximum tip height of 250 meters. If approved, it is expected to generate up to 161.5 GWh of electricity annually and provide at least £5,000 per megawatt each year in community funding. OnPath Energy is also promoting shared ownership, offering local communities 1% free equity and the option to invest further at market value through its OnPath Together initiative.
Ewan Robertson, project manager for the Cumnock and Doon Valley wind farm, said: “These exhibitions are a key milestone in our journey, giving us the chance to speak directly with the people who know this area best.”
A second round of consultations is planned for later this year to continue gathering community input. OnPath Energy encourages residents to attend, share ideas, and discuss priorities or concerns to help shape the final proposal.
