NR Marine Services will provide two crew transfer vessels, NR Rebellion and NR Hunter. The first vessel, NR Rebellion, will begin operations in April, with NR Hunter joining later in the year. NR Rebellion, constructed by Diverse Marine on the Isle of Wight, is a 25-meter hybrid vessel with a service speed of 26 knots and a range of 1,000 nautical miles. It can transport up to 24 personnel to the East Anglia Three construction site.
“It’s exciting to be supporting ScottishPower and East Anglia THREE right here on our home turf. This is the biggest charter we’ve ever signed up to and it’s a real show of confidence not just in NR Marine Services, but in what this region can offer the offshore wind industry as a whole,” said Owen Nutt, Director of NR Marine Services.
The partnership has spurred growth for NR Marine Services, doubling its fleet and workforce over the past year, including increased local hiring. This development benefits both the region and the UK’s offshore wind sector, with the company eager to contribute to the wind farm’s progress in the coming months.
OEG will deploy the vessel Tess to perform guard duties at the East Anglia Three site, located 69 kilometers off the Norfolk coast. “We are, of course, thrilled to build upon the support we are delivering to the East Anglia THREE project, adding to the range of subsea, topside and marine services we are already delivering to the offshore windfarm’s construction phase,” said George Moore, Business Development Director for OEG.
The East Anglia Three wind farm will consist of 95 Siemens Gamesa 14+ MW wind turbines, with full operations expected by 2026. The project secured a Contract for Difference in July 2022, and onshore construction began the same month. These vessel agreements mark a significant step in advancing the offshore construction phase, supporting the UK’s renewable energy goals.
