The turbine, developed by CRCC, offers a power generation capacity 3.2 times greater than standard models, optimizing the use of high-quality wind resources and land. Wang Hao, CRCC’s project manager, explained: “The self-developed turbine features a hub height of 155 meters, equivalent to a 50-story building, and boasts a rotor diameter of 266 meters, and a sweeping area of 55,500 square meters, the size of nearly eight soccer fields.” Each blade measures 130 meters in length.
Operating at full capacity, the turbine produces 16,200 kilowatt-hours per hour, enough to supply electricity to 170,000 households annually. This high output enhances the efficiency of renewable energy production, supporting China’s commitment to sustainable energy development. The turbine’s design incorporates advanced materials for its long, flexible blades, an integrated drive chain, and domestically manufactured key components, all rigorously tested to ensure quality, safety, and reliability.
The installation in Jiangsu represents a milestone in clean energy innovation. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, the turbine improves power generation efficiency while maintaining high standards of performance. The use of domestically produced components underscores the strength of local manufacturing capabilities, contributing to the growth of China’s renewable energy sector.
Wang Hao highlighted the turbine’s significance, noting its ability to maximize energy output while minimizing land use. The project aligns with efforts to expand clean energy infrastructure, meeting rising domestic energy demands sustainably. The turbine’s strategic coastal location in Dafeng District takes advantage of abundant wind resources, further boosting its effectiveness.
This achievement strengthens China’s position as a leader in renewable energy technology. The 16.2-megawatt turbine sets a new standard for onshore wind power, demonstrating the potential for large-scale, high-efficiency clean energy solutions. CRCC’s focus on innovation and quality ensures that the turbine will deliver reliable power for years to come.
The successful installation in Jiangsu paves the way for future advancements in wind energy. By combining advanced engineering with sustainable practices, CRCC is helping to build a cleaner, more energy-efficient future, supporting both local communities and broader environmental goals.
