CATL collaborated with five leading automakers—FAW Group, Changan Automobile, BAIC Group, Chery Automobile, and GAC Group—to launch ten new battery swappable vehicle models. These models serve diverse needs, including executive travel, family outings, and budget-friendly options for younger drivers. FAW’s Hongqi debuted the EH7, a B+ segment sedan, as its first Choco-Swap model. Changan Automobile presented the NEVO A05, priced below 100,000 yuan, the mid-to-large NEVO A07 sedan, and the sporty DEEPAL SL03 fastback. BAIC Group’s ARCFOX brand introduced a spacious electric family sedan, while Chery’s iCAR V23 launched as the first “boxy” model on the platform. GAC Group announced Choco-Swap versions of the AION UT, AION RT, second-gen AION V Dominator, and a forthcoming A-segment SUV.
A CATL representative stated: “Our collaboration with these automakers strengthens the Choco-Swap ecosystem, offering convenient and sustainable mobility solutions.” GAC Group, the first to fully adopt the Choco-Swap standard, will integrate the technology across more vehicle models. The partnership with CATL extends to battery swap station deployment, battery bank services, vehicle marketing, and repurposing retired batteries for secondary applications.
GAC Group’s executive commented: “Integrating Choco-Swap technology enhances our commitment to innovative and efficient energy solutions for our customers.” The collaboration aims to streamline battery swap infrastructure and improve user experience through faster, more accessible energy replenishment.
CATL’s Choco-Swap network currently operates in 16 cities, with plans to expand to 1,000 battery swap stations across 30 cities by the end of 2025. Prior partnerships with companies like Sinopec, NIO, and DiDi, along with support from the Research Institute of Highway under the Ministry of Transport, are driving the development of an efficient and safe energy ecosystem. This network aims to deliver a “full charge in two minutes,” enhancing convenience for electric vehicle users.
The Choco-Swap platform and its expanding network reflect CATL’s focus on advancing battery technology and infrastructure to support sustainable transportation. The strategic agreement with GAC Group and the launch of new models underscore the growing adoption of battery swap systems in the automotive industry.
