Through the GSMA’s Network Settings Exchange (NSX) and Interoperability Testing services, Samsung is standardizing VoLTE implementation to deliver consistent voice services across diverse operators and regions. Devices like the Galaxy S25 series, equipped with Android 15 or above, will automatically access high-quality VoLTE using operator-specific IMS settings via NSX or GSMA Profile #4 as a fallback.
The GSMA NSX platform enables mobile network operators and virtual operators to share and manage network settings with device manufacturers, ensuring seamless service functionality. This centralized system streamlines the distribution of IMS settings, allowing Samsung to pre-configure devices for optimal compatibility with operator networks worldwide.
The GSMA’s Interoperability Testing service complements this effort by providing tools to validate VoLTE compatibility before commercial deployment. Samsung has aligned its testing processes with GSMA’s VoLTE standards, conducting rigorous assessments to ensure reliable performance across global networks. This partnership facilitates operator readiness for VoLTE through standardized testing protocols.
Justin Jun, Head of Quality at Samsung Electronics, stated: “Our collaboration with GSMA has strengthened Samsung’s VoLTE compatibility, enabling more stable and seamless voice services across networks and regions. We’re excited to keep advancing connectivity so users can count on an exceptional mobile experience, wherever life takes them.”
Sianne Ryder, General Manager of Services at the GSMA, added: “The GSMA welcomes Samsung’s pioneering efforts in enhancing call services. We have invested significant effort into preparing the industry for VoLTE readiness, so this collaboration with Samsung is a significant step forward. As more and more countries phase out 2G and 3G networks to repurpose spectrum for 5G, it is essential to ensure that voice services continue to function seamlessly.”
This initiative underscores the importance of industry collaboration to improve global connectivity. By enabling VoLTE by default, Samsung and the GSMA aim to deliver high-quality voice services, enhancing user experiences across diverse network environments while supporting the global shift to advanced mobile technologies.
