The partnership emphasizes comprehensive cooperation in several key areas, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, supply chain optimization, and the development of 12V and hybrid power batteries. These initiatives aim to drive technological advancements and support the growth of the NEV industry, meeting evolving consumer demands for efficient and sustainable transportation.
HMCT and CATL also plan to explore innovative commercial collaboration models to reinforce their long-term strategic alignment, fostering a robust framework for future joint efforts. This deepened partnership is expected to contribute to the development of high-quality NEV products for domestic and global markets.
In a related development, CATL signed a memorandum of cooperation with Changan Mazda in Shanghai earlier in May 2025. The collaboration leverages CATL’s Integrated Intelligent Chassis (CIIC), known as the skateboard chassis, and Changan Mazda’s vehicle manufacturing expertise to create smarter, more efficient NEV products.
The partnership with Changan Mazda focuses on the skateboard chassis platform, which features a decoupled upper and lower body structure, modular subsystems, standardized interfaces, and a flexible software-hardware architecture. These design elements enable rapid adaptation to various vehicle models, significantly reducing development timelines and allowing both companies to respond swiftly to market changes.
CATL’s collaborations with HMCT and Changan Mazda highlight its commitment to advancing NEV technology and supporting sustainable energy consumption. By integrating cutting-edge battery and chassis solutions, these partnerships aim to deliver innovative vehicles that meet consumer needs while contributing to the global transition to clean energy.
