This initial study, in line with US and Canadian regulations, aims to evaluate the project’s viability for a potential open-pit mine and processing facility.
The Whistler Project, situated on a 53,700-acre site in the Alaska Range, holds an estimated 6.48 million ounces of gold equivalent in the indicated resource category and 4.16 million ounces in the inferred category. Its near-surface, high-grade core material enhances its development potential. The PEA will assess the project’s viability to support a sustainable mining operation.
Moose Mountain Technical Services is tasked with updating the mineral resource estimate, incorporating data from the 2024 drilling campaign. Meanwhile, Base Metallurgical Laboratories is conducting metallurgical tests to provide critical data for the assessment. These efforts aim to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of the project’s technical and economic prospects.
Tim Smith, CEO of U.S. GoldMining, stated: “We are delighted to be able to announce that we have partnered with Ausenco on this important work programme. We are excited to begin working towards delivering the first PEA on Whistler, which we believe could present a robust future mining opportunity and has the potential to unlock significant value for shareholders.”
Ausenco was chosen after a competitive bidding process involving 13 consultancies, with six shortlisted candidates undergoing thorough evaluation. The selection reflects Ausenco’s extensive experience and proven success in conducting similar studies globally. The company aims to complete the PEA before the end of the year, with periodic updates planned as the study progresses.
David Thomas, Vice-President of Ausenco Southwest USA Minerals & Metals, said: “Ausenco is pleased to partner with U.S. GoldMining on the Whistler Gold-Copper Project PEA. We have successfully completed studies for clients around the world, including initial concept studies, pre-feasibility studies and definitive studies. As a lifelong Alaskan who lived many years in the Matanuska-Susitna (Mat-Su) Borough – where the Whistler Project is located – I am delighted to add to the direct Alaskan experience of the team and help deliver U.S. GoldMining a robust, sustainable mining study.”
The Whistler Project’s strategic location and resource potential position it as a promising opportunity for sustainable mining. By leveraging Ausenco’s expertise, U.S. GoldMining aims to advance the project toward a viable operation, contributing to economic growth while prioritizing environmental and technical considerations.
