The Dollenkamp wind farm, currently under construction, will feature eight Vestas V162 turbines, each with a 5.6MW capacity. Once operational, it is expected to produce approximately 100,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, sufficient to power over 30,000 two-person households. The project, managed under an EPC contract, will connect to the grid via the Erkeln substation, established by BayWa r.e. Commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025, after which Enova Value will assume ownership and operational management.
As part of the project, the Dollenkamp Citizens’ Foundation was created to support local community initiatives. BayWa r.e. provided an initial €100,000 endowment and €20,000 in seed funding, with annual contributions from the wind farm’s operations directed to the foundation to promote sustainable local development.
Matthias Taft, BayWa r.e.’s chief executive, stated: “We are very pleased about the sale to Enova. We strongly believe that wind energy is a key pillar of a forward-looking energy system. It is sustainable, competitive and combines technological innovation with real benefits for citizens and communities. Public acceptance is especially important to us, and we are committed to a transparent dialogue that includes local communities. Dollenkamp is a great example of lived, collective engagement – a value shared by both BayWa r.e. and Enova.”
Hauke Brümmer, Enova group’s chief executive, said: “With the purchase of the Dollenkamp wind farm, we are not only strengthening our regional presence, but also diversifying our portfolio, which now comprises more than 800MW of onshore wind energy. The fact that we have once again achieved a successful conclusion with BayWa r.e. underlines the trusting partnership and the excellent cooperation that has already connected us in previous projects.”
This acquisition follows a prior deal in October 2024, when BayWa r.e. sold the 15.3MW Jembke wind farm in Lower Saxony to Enova Value, handed over as a turnkey project in early June 2025. The Dollenkamp acquisition further strengthens Enova’s commitment to sustainable energy and community engagement in Germany’s renewable energy sector.
