On June 19, Foton International Trade entered a four-party MoU with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment, the National Industrial Development Center, and Petromin, a prominent local company, to build a commercial vehicle manufacturing plant. The facility will produce heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, and buses, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to promote industrial localization. This project aims to enhance supply chain efficiency, create jobs, and support the growth of local small and medium-sized enterprises, contributing to sustainable industrial development in the kingdom.
The MoU marks a key step in FOTON’s global expansion strategy. With 32 localized manufacturing facilities worldwide and operations in over 130 countries, FOTON is transitioning from exporting products to fostering deeper local partnerships. The Saudi plant will strengthen the company’s ability to meet regional demands while advancing its international manufacturing capabilities.
On June 21, FOTON delivered 1,000 specially designed school buses to a major Saudi client for student transportation in Riyadh and Jazan. These buses, powered by Cummins ISF2.8 engines, are built for reliable performance on challenging routes, including steep gradients. They feature an ESC stability control system for enhanced safety and a climate-optimized cooling system with dual-side air ducts to ensure comfort in Saudi Arabia’s high temperatures. The vehicles also include long wheelbases, adjustable child seats, and spacious interiors tailored for student safety and convenience.
To support ongoing operations, FOTON has implemented a comprehensive service system, including full-cycle tracking, key component reserves, and 24/7 support to ensure reliable transportation for students. These initiatives reflect FOTON’s commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions while deepening ties with Saudi Arabia. The manufacturing plant and bus delivery underscore the company’s role in supporting the kingdom’s vision for localized industry and improved infrastructure, contributing to both economic growth and community welfare.
