
Nick Flores, Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Bend LNG, stated: “We are responding to growing global demand for low carbon intensity LNG. The integration of carbon capture on both our liquefaction and cogeneration facilities will deliver low carbon intensity LNG while monetizing both 45Q tax credits and our low-carbon products.” The facility will incorporate carbon capture, transport, and storage (CCS) technology to produce low-carbon-intensity natural gas sourced from U.S. onshore basins, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.
The company plans to submit pre-filing documents for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) permits in 2025, marking a key step toward project realization. This initiative aims to support the global energy market by providing cleaner LNG options while leveraging existing U.S. natural gas resources.
In a related development, another Texas-based LNG project, led by Cheniere Energy, recently achieved a significant milestone. The company reached a final investment decision (FID) for its Corpus Christi Midscale Trains 8 & 9 and debottlenecking project, further expanding LNG production capacity in the region. This progress underscores Texas’s growing role as a hub for LNG exports, driven by advancements in infrastructure and sustainable technologies.
