This investment will contribute significantly to the region’s renewable energy supply.
This marks ib vogt’s second solar initiative in the Mindanao region. Construction of the Tantangan facility began in the first quarter of 2025, with commissioning anticipated by the second quarter of 2026. Once operational, the plant is expected to produce over 150 gigawatt hours of renewable electricity annually, enough to power more than 82,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 66,000 tons each year.
David Ludwig, ib vogt’s APAC CEO, stated: “This project is especially meaningful to us, as it is our second power plant in Mindanao supporting the local community and the regional economy. We are very happy about our partnership with HSBC to jointly enable this project and make this contribution to the energy transition in the Philippines.”
The Tantangan project is part of ib vogt’s broader development portfolio in the Philippines, which includes over 1,000 MWp of active projects across various regions. The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to fostering community development through green job opportunities and sustainable energy solutions. By investing in renewable infrastructure, ib vogt supports long-term economic and environmental benefits in the region.
In a separate development, ib vogt was appointed by Spanish energy company Iberdrola in February 2024 to construct the 245 MW Fenix solar project in Italy, further demonstrating its expertise in advancing global renewable energy projects.
The Tantangan solar plant aligns with efforts to enhance access to clean energy in the Philippines, contributing to both local economic growth and global sustainability goals. Through strategic partnerships and innovative financing, ib vogt continues to expand its role in the renewable energy sector, delivering reliable and environmentally friendly power solutions.
