The Shinan Ui wind farm will feature 26 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines and is a key component of the planned 8.2 GW Shinan offshore wind power belt. Kim Byeong-ok, CEO of LS Marine Solution, stated: “This project is the practical starting point for the Shinan offshore wind power belt planned to be 8.2 GW in scale, and we expect it to serve as a stepping stone for securing follow-up business orders.”
LS Marine Solution’s selection stems from its successful execution of the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Phase 1 project and its close collaboration with Hanwha Ocean during the planning phase. This contract builds on the company’s growing portfolio, which includes the Taipower Offshore Wind Project Phase II (TPC Changhua Phase II) and its role as the preferred bidder for the 1 GW Haesong offshore wind farm.
Earlier in 2025, Korea South-East Power (KOEN), a subsidiary of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), withdrew from the Shinan Ui project, allowing the Hanwha Ocean and SK Eternics consortium to lead its development. The wind farm will contribute to South Korea’s renewable energy goals by providing clean, sustainable power to the region.
The Shinan Ui project underscores LS Marine Solution’s expertise in offshore wind infrastructure and supports South Korea’s efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity. By leveraging advanced technology and strategic partnerships, the initiative aims to foster sustainable energy development and economic growth in South Jeolla Province.
