The partnership combines Logan Energy’s expertise in hydrogen solutions with H2 Energy’s local operational knowledge to advance hydrogen projects in the region. A key initiative is the Kuching Urban Transport System (KUTS), which will provide a hydrogen-powered public transportation network for the 700,000 residents of Greater Kuching, enhancing sustainable mobility options.
H2 Energy has already implemented a hydrogen energy system at Long Loyang Clinic, supplying power for essential services to over 2,000 residents in a rural, off-grid village. Logan Energy will support efforts to scale this technology, potentially benefiting tens of thousands of people in Sarawak’s rural communities by improving access to reliable energy.
Ms Sandra Liz Hon, Executive Director of H2 Energy Sdn Bhd, stated: “This collaboration supports Sarawak’s ambition to lead ASEAN’s hydrogen economy while creating skilled jobs and delivering sustainable growth for local communities.” The partnership aims to foster economic development and environmental sustainability through innovative energy solutions.
Logan Energy specializes in designing and integrating hydrogen production, refueling, compression, storage, dispensing, and fuel cell systems. The company has developed new methods to enhance system flexibility, performance, and cost-efficiency while maintaining reliability. These innovations will first be applied at hydrogen refueling stations in Scotland and the Czech Republic, set for commissioning later in 2025.
Craig Stewart, Business Development Director at Logan Energy, emphasized the long-term vision, saying: “The success of a hydrogen infrastructure project isn’t measured the day it’s switched on. It’s measured by its long-term reliability, efficiency, and low maintenance costs. Achieving that requires local skills, and building that capability will be a key focus of our collaboration with H2 Energy.”
This strategic partnership supports Sarawak’s goals of expanding clean energy infrastructure for domestic use, creating jobs, and promoting sustainable growth. By leveraging advanced hydrogen technology, the collaboration aims to establish Sarawak as a leader in the regional hydrogen economy.
