The Vifor wind farm project is progressing in two phases. Phase 1 includes the installation of 30 turbines, delivering a combined capacity of 192MW. The second phase will add 42 more turbines, increasing the total capacity to 461MW. Once fully operational, Vifor will rank among Europe’s largest onshore wind farms and be the largest wind farm constructed in Romania in the past decade. It is expected to generate electricity sufficient to power over 700,000 households.
Last week, Rezolv Energy secured financing of up to €331 million to support the construction of the 269MW second phase, marking a significant step toward completing the project. This funding will facilitate the expansion of the wind farm, ensuring its timely development and contribution to Romania’s renewable energy goals.
Jim Campion, CEO of Rezolv Energy, stated: “The installation of the first turbine at Vifor is a major milestone for Rezolv, for Romania, and for the region’s clean energy transition. This project will deliver clean, sustainable energy at scale, supporting both energy security and environmental goals.” The project underscores Romania’s growing role in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Europe.
The Vifor wind farm aligns with efforts to enhance sustainable energy production, leveraging advanced turbine technology to meet rising electricity demands. By prioritizing renewable energy, the project contributes to reducing reliance on non-renewable sources while providing significant economic and environmental benefits to the region. The installation of the first turbine marks a pivotal moment in establishing Vifor as a cornerstone of Romania’s renewable energy landscape.
