The Twelvemile Solar 1 and 2 project is a combined 152-megawatt (MW) solar facility in southern Oklahoma.
Scheduled for completion in early 2026, the Twelvemile Solar projects aim to deliver reliable, cost-effective energy while supporting economic growth in the region. The facilities are expected to create up to 350 construction jobs during peak activity and generate $29 million in state and local property tax revenue over their operational lifespan, bolstering local infrastructure and communities.
LRE’s chief commercial officer, Eran Mahrer, stated: “As America’s energy needs grow, projects like Twelvemile 1 and 2 are critical to ensuring reliable, affordable power.” He emphasized the projects’ role in enhancing grid resilience, creating jobs, and attracting businesses to southern Oklahoma, adding: “Guided by responsible development and a deep commitment to domestic content, local sourcing and community-focused growth, we are delivering projects with lasting impact.”
LRE acquired the Twelvemile portfolio from Red River Renewable Energy, a partnership between SunChase Power and Eolian, and collaborated closely with both during early development. Eolian’s CEO, Aaron Zubaty, noted: “These solar projects will be the largest facilities of their type in Oklahoma […] and will immediately help to reduce strain on the grid during peak summer hours of demand that define resource adequacy requirements.” He highlighted the projects’ ability to strengthen the grid against weather-related disruptions through diverse energy technologies.
SunChase Power’s vice-president, Teran Smith, said: “The Mayes and Twelvemile Solar projects are the result of strategic siting and early collaboration. We are proud to see these investments bring long-term benefits to Oklahoma’s communities and electric grid.” The projects reflect a commitment to sustainable development and regional economic advancement.
In January 2025, LRE and Google signed power purchase agreements for 700 megawatts of solar energy, supporting grid reliability and Google’s data center operations in Oklahoma. The Twelvemile Solar projects align with these efforts, contributing to a robust and sustainable energy framework.
By advancing renewable energy infrastructure, LRE’s Twelvemile Solar initiatives are set to enhance Oklahoma’s energy landscape, delivering economic and environmental benefits through job creation, tax revenue, and clean power generation.
