The facility is designed to produce 500,000t of sustainable fuels annually.
Located next to Moeve’s La Rábida Energy Park, the facility will produce 500,000 tonnes of sustainable fuels annually, including sustainable aviation fuel and HVO100 renewable diesel. Using recycled cooking oils and agricultural waste supplied by Apical, the plant will double the combined annual production capacity of Moeve and Apical’s Bio-Oils subsidiary to one million tonnes. This development strengthens Spain’s role in the clean energy sector.
The plant incorporates advanced technologies to minimize environmental impact, utilizing recycled water exclusively and targeting a 75% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional fuel plants. VINCI stated that the facility is expected to prevent nearly three million tonnes of CO? emissions annually, supporting sustainable energy goals.
A VINCI representative noted: “This project demonstrates how modern hydrogen technology can be effectively integrated into existing structures – and how FEST, as a systems provider, is making a significant contribution to its implementation.” Although this quote references a different context, it aligns with VINCI’s commitment to integrating innovative technologies, as seen in this biofuel initiative.
In 2024, VINCI Group reported €3.8 billion in revenue from Spain, with Cobra IS contributing €3.2 billion, and VINCI Energies and VINCI Construction each adding €0.3 billion. In July 2025, VINCI Energies agreed to acquire Zimmer & Hälbig, a Bielefeld-based company, pending approval from German competition authorities.
The Huelva biofuel facility underscores Spain’s commitment to advancing renewable energy production, leveraging sustainable raw materials and innovative design to enhance environmental outcomes and support the global transition to cleaner fuels.
