Each foundation, exceeding 90 meters in height and weighing around 2,000 tonnes—equivalent to 1,000 cars—marks a significant achievement. The delivery follows the commissioning of Century Wind Power’s Twin Tower facility, reinforcing Taiwan’s localized offshore wind capabilities.
In 2022, CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering selected Century Wind Power to supply 21 foundations for Hai Long 2a. The company also recently won a contract to provide foundations for the 495 MW Formosa 4 offshore wind farm, strengthening its contribution to Taiwan’s renewable energy growth.
Tim Kittelhake, CEO and Project Director of the Hai Long project, said: “Our collaboration with Century Wind Power has been essential to the project’s progress and is a testament to the strength and reliability of Taiwan’s local supply chain. It also demonstrates that Taiwan is capable of supporting the nation’s offshore wind ambitions and continues to attract investment in complex, large-scale infrastructure.”
The 1,022 MW Hai Long project, developed by Northland Power, Gentari, and Mitsui & Co., includes Hai Long 2a (294 MW), Hai Long 2b (224 MW), and Hai Long 3 (504 MW). Having recently generated its first power and connected to Taipower’s grid, the project is set to become one of the Asia Pacific’s largest offshore wind farms, powering over one million Taiwanese homes.
