
Each foundation stands more than 90m tall and weighs 2,000 metric tonnes.
This delivery marks the first successful use of an advanced hydraulic gripper system in Taiwan’s jacket fabrication process. The system ensures precise alignment and construction stability, reflecting advanced technical capabilities developed through international collaboration, design improvements, and specialized workforce training, as noted by Hai Long Offshore Wind.
Since the jacket fabrication contract was signed in late 2022, Century Wind Power and the Hai Long project have maintained a strong partnership. Over 20 Hai Long personnel provided on-site support, enhancing Taiwan’s expertise in offshore wind manufacturing. The Century Group, along with local subcontractors, played a key role in the fabrication process, utilizing the Twin Tower, the world’s first open-air heavy lifting facility, to assemble these large-scale foundations.
Hai Long CEO and project director Tim Kittelhake stated: “Our collaboration with Century Wind Power has been essential to the project’s progress and is a testament to the strength and reliability of Taiwan’s local supply chain. It also demonstrates that Taiwan is capable of supporting the nation’s offshore wind ambitions and continues to attract investment in complex, large-scale infrastructure.”
The Hai Long project, which began delivering green electricity to Taipower’s grid in June 2025, is on track for full grid connection by 2026. It will be Taiwan’s first offshore wind farm to exceed 1 gigawatt, providing clean energy to over one million households. This milestone aligns with Taiwan’s broader renewable energy goals, as evidenced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ allocation of 2.7 gigawatts to five wind farm projects in its August 2024 round 3.2 offshore auction.
The successful delivery of these foundations highlights Taiwan’s growing expertise in offshore wind infrastructure and its commitment to sustainable energy development, positioning the region as a key player in the global renewable energy landscape.
