During the meeting, Chery distinguished itself as the only automotive company among 24 signatories of the new "Vision for Sustainable Brands" initiative, becoming one of its founding members. The initiative, launched in conjunction with the UN’s 80th anniversary, was jointly developed by SBBC and partner organizations. It represents a global call for greater corporate sustainability leadership, while also expressing Chinese companies’ determination to pursue responsible and forward-looking growth.
The participating companies pledged to integrate sustainability into all aspects of their brand and business strategies. They committed to responsible practices designed to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The first group of signatories included Chery, Anta, CATL, LONGi, Haier, JD.com, Midea, Hisense, Baidu, iFlytek, and other prominent enterprises.
Chery Chairman Yin Tongyue commented on the company’s decision to join the initiative: “Sustainability is not only a defining issue of the era but also a new benchmark for corporate value. Building a truly sustainable brand requires the convergence of technological innovation, green development, social responsibility, and long-term vision. Business growth should go hand in hand with societal benefit.” He added that Chery will incorporate these principles into its corporate strategy, products, and services to contribute to a safer, greener, and better world.
The Vision for Sustainable Brands initiative provides a platform for companies to strengthen commitments to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and innovation-driven growth. By becoming a founding member, Chery has underscored its commitment to aligning business development with sustainability goals.
The dialogue in Geneva also highlighted the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing in promoting sustainable business models. Organizers noted that the initiative aims to build stronger links between global standards and practical implementation, ensuring that sustainability becomes an integral part of corporate identity rather than a peripheral effort.
As a founding member, Chery’s involvement demonstrates the growing role of Chinese enterprises in advancing global sustainability initiatives. The company’s participation signals a commitment to long-term strategies that balance economic success with environmental and social progress.
Through initiatives such as this, businesses worldwide are increasingly expected to demonstrate leadership in addressing sustainability challenges. The Vision for Sustainable Brands initiative, with its diverse group of founding companies, reflects a collective effort to embed responsibility and innovation into the future of global commerce.
