To ensure stable supply for its customers, INEOS Inovyn confirmed that it will optimize chloromethane production at its Rosignano site in Italy. This adjustment aims to mitigate potential disruptions while maintaining efficiency across its European operations.
Arnaud Valenduc, Business Director of INEOS Inovyn, stated: “Our industry continues to face difficult market dynamics and challenging energy costs, with European gas prices around three times higher than the US. To balance INEOS Inovyn’s operating rates with weak market demand, we have announced the decision to mothball our chloromethane production facility in Tavaux. We remain committed to supporting our customers.”
INEOS Inovyn is recognized as Europe’s largest producer of chlorvinyls and a global leader in speciality PVC. The company plays a significant role in supplying essential materials to various industrial sectors. By shifting focus to the Rosignano site, INEOS Inovyn seeks to streamline operations while continuing to meet the needs of its international client base.
The mothballing of the Tavaux facility highlights ongoing pressures within the European chemical industry, particularly those tied to high energy costs and evolving market demand patterns. For INEOS Inovyn, this move is intended to align production with current conditions and safeguard long-term competitiveness.
While the facility in Tavaux will no longer operate in the near term, the company emphasized its continued commitment to customer service and reliability. The decision reflects a broader trend of European chemical producers adapting to economic and regulatory shifts, ensuring they can maintain sustainable operations while responding to demand fluctuations.
With its strategic reallocation of production resources, INEOS Inovyn aims to maintain supply stability for chloromethane customers, reinforcing its role as a key supplier in the European and global chemical markets.
