Leapmotor’s expansion has been swift. The company produced 100,000 vehicles by mid-2022, reached 500,000 in October 2024, and doubled that number to one million in just 343 days. This pace reflects both scaling capability and sustained consumer interest in its products.
The milestone coincides with improving financial results. In the first half of 2025, Leapmotor reported a net profit of 30 million yuan, becoming only the second Chinese new energy vehicle startup to record a half-year profit. Deliveries during the same period rose 155.7% year-on-year to 221,664 units. Monthly sales momentum has been strong, surpassing 50,000 in July and reaching 57,066 in August, marking six consecutive months of segment leadership.
Encouraged by rising demand, the company adjusted its 2025 sales target upward in August to between 580,000 and 650,000 units. Founder, chairman, and CEO Zhu Jiangming has expressed an even bolder ambition: “Our goal is to achieve annual sales of one million vehicles as early as next year.”
Leapmotor’s strategy differs from some competitors that rely on a single model. Its lineup spans from 60,000 to 200,000 yuan, covering diverse market segments. The C10 and C11 SUVs have gained traction in the mid-size category, while the B01 sedan targets entry-level buyers. This broad approach has enabled the company to capture a wide customer base.
International growth is also a key focus. Leapmotor’s exports have positioned it among the leading Chinese startups abroad, with rising orders from Europe. At the IAA MOBILITY show in Munich earlier this month, the company introduced the Lafa5, a new model designed for younger consumers and part of its global strategy.
Analysts view the company’s performance as a combination of competitive products, expanding international presence, and rising production efficiency. With strong domestic sales and growing overseas recognition, Leapmotor is moving quickly to secure a larger role in the global electric vehicle market.
The company’s rapid journey from its first 100,000 units to one million in just three years reflects the broader momentum of China’s new energy vehicle industry. With its diversified portfolio and expanding footprint, Leapmotor is positioning itself for further breakthroughs as it aims to achieve another million-unit sales milestone on an annual basis in the near future.
