At the event, Mr. Wang expressed appreciation to the governments of China and Brazil, as well as to BYD’s global partners and customers for their long-standing trust and cooperation. He highlighted that BYD has maintained a strong presence in Brazil for over 11 years, contributing to the development of the country’s electric mobility sector. The company’s electric buses currently operate in several major Brazilian cities, and BYD has established a customer base of more than 170,000 vehicle owners in the country. For two consecutive years, BYD has been recognized as Brazil’s top-selling NEV brand, reflecting its growing influence in the region’s clean transportation market.
Mr. Wang emphasized that BYD’s commitment to Brazil goes beyond commercial success, stating that the company aims to be a long-term partner in advancing sustainable mobility and promoting innovation within the local automotive industry.
During the ceremony, Mr. Wang also announced that BYD will provide 30 customized NEVs for the upcoming 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), scheduled to take place later this year in Belém, Pará. The fleet will serve as low-emission transport for participants during the summit. After the event, BYD plans to donate the vehicles to local schools and public institutions to continue supporting Brazil’s efforts to expand green and sustainable transportation initiatives.
In a related development, the Bahia State Assembly approved the renaming of the main road in front of BYD’s factory to “BYD Road” on the eve of the ceremony. This marks the third overseas road named after the company, following similar dedications in Lancaster, United States, and Rayong, Thailand—both locations of BYD manufacturing facilities.
The new “BYD Road” in South America stands as a symbol of the company’s deepening global presence and the growing international recognition of its brand. The milestone underscores BYD’s position as a global leader in new energy vehicles and highlights its ongoing efforts to promote clean, sustainable, and innovative mobility solutions worldwide.
With 14 million NEVs produced and a growing footprint across major markets, BYD continues to strengthen its role in driving the global transition toward low-carbon transportation and fostering cooperation in the global clean energy industry.
