In the wireline broadband segment, China Mobile had 329 million subscribers by September 30, 2025, adding 14.2 million in the first three quarters. Household broadband customers totaled 288 million, with a net increase of 9.76 million. These figures highlight the company’s continued expansion across both mobile and fixed-line services.
China Mobile is also accelerating its role in artificial intelligence (AI). At MWC Shanghai 2025, Chairman Yang Jie described the company’s strategy as positioning itself as an AI provider, aggregator, and operator. He framed AI as the next technological era following “Internet+” and “5G+,” calling the current period the “AI+” era. Yang emphasized AI’s potential to drive economic and industrial transformation, noting that AI capabilities now match or surpass human-level performance in areas such as language understanding and image recognition.
Yang outlined a vision of “carbon-silicon symbiosis,” in which intelligent machines, or “silicon-based life,” integrate sensors, processors, memory, and control systems to function like a nervous system. These systems will be embedded across devices, vehicles, and robots, serving as decision-making tools and augmenting the social workforce. He highlighted the convergence of digital and physical worlds, where AI agents will continuously simulate real-world environments, expanding human activity in production, communication, and research.
This integration of AI is expected to accelerate innovation, improve economic efficiency, and support the development of an “intelligent economy.” China Mobile’s strategy combines its massive subscriber base, robust network infrastructure, and AI capabilities to create scalable, technology-driven services.
Overall, China Mobile’s performance in Q3 and its strategic AI initiatives underscore the company’s dual focus on expanding telecommunications services and pioneering next-generation intelligent solutions. By integrating AI with its existing networks, China Mobile aims to enhance connectivity, drive industrial innovation, and strengthen its role in shaping the digital economy.
