The project is projected to have an annual production capacity of 227GWh of clean energy.
The Winton North project will be implemented in two stages. The first stage involves the construction of a 100-megawatt alternating current (MWac) solar farm, while the second stage will see the installation of a 100MW, two-hour battery energy storage system (BESS). Together, the two components will provide a reliable supply of clean energy and enhance grid stability in the region.
Under the agreement, Ingeteam will supply its plug-and-play medium voltage power stations, which integrate inverters, low-voltage/medium-voltage (LV/MV) transformers, MV switchgear, and auxiliary service panels. The company will also oversee the commissioning of all supplied equipment and the hybrid plant’s control system, known as the multi plant controller.
This advanced control system is designed to assist grid operators in optimizing and coordinating the performance of both the solar and storage facilities. It helps maintain energy quality and ensures a stable power supply at the grid interconnection point, thereby supporting efficient integration of renewable power into the network.
Ingeteam Australia’s Head of Sales for the photovoltaic and storage business, Jorge Guillen, stated: “We are delighted to once again be able to provide our expertise and technology in power and control electronics to further contribute to Australia’s energy transition.”
Since establishing its presence in North Wollongong in 2010, Ingeteam has achieved a strong position in the Australian market, holding approximately a 25% share of the country’s solar inverter sector. The company has become a key technology partner for plant developers, assisting them in meeting the technical standards and regulatory requirements necessary for grid connection of large-scale renewable projects.
Ingeteam’s ongoing collaboration with European Energy further reinforces its role in advancing Australia’s clean energy transition. In August 2025, Ingeteam secured two additional contracts from European Energy to supply inverter and control technology for the Lancaster and Mulwala solar photovoltaic plants. These projects are part of Australia’s broader efforts to achieve its decarbonisation objectives and expand its renewable energy portfolio.
Through the Winton North hybrid project, Ingeteam continues to strengthen its contribution to Australia’s sustainable energy development. By combining solar power generation with battery energy storage, the project aims to improve energy efficiency, grid reliability, and environmental performance, supporting the region’s long-term transition toward cleaner power sources.
