Envision Energy, a leading global green technology company, has partnered with UK-based Statera Energy to supply the battery energy storage system (BESS) for the Carrington Storage project. With a total capacity of 680MW/1,360 megawatt-hours, Carrington ranks among the largest single-site storage projects in the United Kingdom to reach financial close.

Located at Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park in Greater Manchester, the project is scheduled to be energised by late 2026. Once operational, Carrington Storage will play a critical role in improving grid stability, reducing renewable energy curtailment, and supporting the UK’s net-zero and energy security objectives. The project unites major stakeholders, including Lloyds, Statkraft, NatWest, and Siemens Bank, reflecting strong institutional confidence in large-scale battery storage as a key enabler of the energy transition.
Under the partnership, Envision Energy will provide its AI-powered BESS, designed to enable high renewable energy integration, maximize efficiency, and ensure optimal life cycle performance. Statera Energy selected Envision for its advanced AI-driven energy solutions. The company’s Large Energy Model can analyze real-time grid conditions, participate actively in grid-forming control, and maintain stability even under high levels of renewable generation.
The system operates through a “forecast – dispatch – trade – self-learning” closed-loop algorithm, transforming energy management from experience-based to model-driven operations. This approach enables more predictable and sustainable revenue generation while improving system efficiency and adaptability. The upgrade from traditional hardware-focused systems to AI-driven assets is also expected to deliver high energy density, low operational noise, greater flexibility, and higher long-term returns.
The Carrington Storage project marks an important milestone in advancing the UK’s renewable infrastructure. As energy systems worldwide move toward decarbonization, large-scale storage plays a vital role in balancing power supply and demand, particularly as renewable generation increases. Envision Energy’s technology provides intelligent solutions to manage these dynamics efficiently, ensuring reliability across evolving power networks.
Henry Peng, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy, stated: “As one of the largest BESS sites in the UK, the Carrington Storage project is another important step toward realising the country’s clean energy ambitions.” He added that Envision Energy remains committed to accelerating the global energy transition through digital innovation and green technology.
Through this collaboration, Envision Energy and Statera Energy aim to set a benchmark for advanced energy storage in Europe, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable electricity system. By combining financial, technical, and digital expertise, the Carrington project demonstrates the growing potential of intelligent battery storage to support national energy goals and foster a cleaner, more stable future for the power sector.
