The updated memorandum of understanding maintains reciprocal codeshare flights and loyalty programme benefits while deepening collaboration in both passenger and cargo operations. The airlines indicated that additional Canadian cities may be added to the codeshare network in the future.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, and President, Cargo at Air Canada, said: “Air Canada’s partnership with Emirates has been highly successful, and we are proud to renew it early, expanding its scope and extending its duration through 2032. This agreement strengthens our international strategy by supporting our daily, year-round service between Toronto and Dubai and providing customers and shippers seamless connections to destinations across the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.”
Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates, stated: “Our strategic partnership with Air Canada has delivered exceptional results, and we are pleased to extend this collaboration through 2032. This agreement strengthens our passenger and cargo capabilities, enabling us to enhance customer experiences on codeshare flights while expanding network connectivity for travellers across both markets.”
The partnership currently offers Emirates passengers access to 37 points in Canada and the United States, while Air Canada places its code on 19 Emirates services reaching the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Through broader interline connections, travellers can reach over 225 destinations globally.
Mary-Jane Lorette, Vice President International Affairs, Network and Partnerships at Air Canada, commented: “Partnerships are one of the most powerful engines of growth in our business, and our collaboration with Emirates is a perfect example. Since launching in 2022, more than half-a-million customers, almost 500 every single day, have seamlessly connected across our combined networks.”
Eligible passengers now enjoy enhanced priority services, lounge access at Dubai International Terminal 3, and reciprocal mileage earning and redemption between Aeroplan and Emirates Skywards, with further expansion planned to include Premium Economy cabins.
Air Canada operates daily Boeing 787 flights between Toronto and Dubai, while Emirates serves Toronto with the A380 daily and Montréal with seven weekly Boeing 777 flights.
The extended agreement is expected to continue supporting tourism and trade growth between Canada and the United Arab Emirates, alongside increased cargo capacity. Bilateral trade has risen steadily in recent years, and Emirates has recorded significant year-on-year growth in cargo volume from Canada.
Both carriers are also aligning operations in preparation for the future transition to Dubai World Central airport after 2032. The renewed partnership reinforces connectivity between North America, the Middle East, and Asia while delivering improved travel options and operational efficiency for passengers and shippers.
