The extension aligns with similar precautionary actions taken by several international carriers in recent days. Venezuela recently withdrew authorisation for six major airlines that had temporarily halted operations after a U.S. advisory highlighted potential risks in the country's airspace. Ongoing regional military exercises in the Caribbean have contributed to the continued suspension of most scheduled commercial flights.
Iberia, which operates direct services between Madrid and Caracas, had initially paused the route earlier in the month and had expressed readiness to restart once appropriate conditions returned. The carrier now joins other European and Latin American airlines maintaining temporary suspensions while safety assessments continue.
Passengers booked on Iberia flights to or from Venezuela during December will be contacted directly with re-accommodation options. The airline continues to coordinate closely with Spanish and European aviation authorities for the latest guidance.
