Ecopetrol has concluded negotiations with Grenergy Renovables for the acquisition of seven companies that own a total of 88.2 MWp of solar photovoltaic projects in Colombia. The assets are located across the departments of Córdoba, Cesar, Magdalena, and Sucre, with each project having a capacity of up to 12.6 MWp.

The acquisition is intended to support and diversify Ecopetrol's energy mix in line with its 2040 strategy.
The transaction includes all associated permits, licences, and development rights. Completion remains subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions precedent and regulatory approvals.
Upon closing, the purchase will add significant renewable generation capacity to Ecopetrol's portfolio, advancing its target of reaching 900 MW of self-generated renewable energy. The additional solar capacity will primarily supply low-emission power for the company's own operations, reducing reliance on bilateral contracts and exposure to spot market price fluctuations while supporting broader decarbonisation goals outlined in its 2040 energy transition strategy.
Ecopetrol is Colombia's largest energy company, responsible for over 60 percent of domestic hydrocarbon production and operating the majority of the country's refining, transportation, and logistics infrastructure. Through its subsidiary ISA and affiliates, the group also participates in electricity transmission networks in Chile, Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia.
The proposed acquisition follows Ecopetrol's purchase of full ownership of Compañía Wind Autogeneración – developer of the Windpeshi wind project – in July 2025, demonstrating continued expansion of its renewable energy activities.
