Uniper’s CEO, Michael Lewis, stated: “This deal will support ... the potential development of additional gas-fired power plants in Germany to complement the renewable build-up.” The supply from the Louisiana LNG facility is set to begin when the facility starts operations and will continue for up to 13 years.
This marks a continued partnership between Woodside and Uniper. In 2022, the two companies entered an agreement for Woodside to supply LNG from its global portfolio to Europe, including Germany, extending until 2039.
Additionally, earlier this month, Woodside finalized a deal to sell a 40% stake in its Louisiana LNG plant to Stonepeak, a U.S. infrastructure investor, for $5.7 billion. These agreements reflect ongoing efforts to meet energy demands while supporting infrastructure development.
