Originally set to conclude on May 3, the maintenance was finalized ahead of schedule. Key activities included loading new fuel, conducting a containment leak test, performing reactor pump maintenance, and cleaning and inspecting the steam generators. These operations ensure the reactor’s continued safe and efficient performance.
Teollisuuden Voima noted: “The annual maintenance passed off without any surprises affecting the schedule and the planned work progressed well for the most part.” The interval between maintenance cycles is being extended, with the next scheduled maintenance for Olkiluoto 3 planned for September next year.
Olkiluoto 3, with a net electrical output of approximately 1,600 megawatts, supplies about 14 percent of Finland’s electricity needs. The reactor plays a significant role in meeting the country’s energy demands, contributing to a stable and reliable power supply.
