The network will support data center interconnects, enterprise and carrier services, and Cybernet’s flagship consumer broadband offering, StormFiber. Cybernet delivers connectivity solutions across Pakistan to enterprise, corporate, and residential customers, while also providing carrier and transit services to international telecom operators. To meet rising data demands, the company is implementing Nokia’s 1830 GX platform, integrated with 1.2T ICE7 coherent optics, creating a resilient, high-speed, low-latency backbone spanning the country.
The new infrastructure will enhance connectivity within Pakistan and support cross-border transit services for carriers and internet service providers in Central Asia. By offering scalable, high-capacity services at competitive rates, the network aims to accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation and strengthen regional connectivity.
Maroof Ali Shahani, Chief Operating Officer of Cybernet, stated: “By enhancing our network with cutting-edge technology, we’re able to keep pace with our customers’ rapidly evolving connectivity needs and deliver a superior end-user experience. Nokia is a trusted technology leader with the expertise and innovation to support our modernization goals.”
James Watt, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Optical Networks at Nokia, said: “Deploying state-of-the-art optical solutions ensures networks are not just keeping pace with, but even staying ahead in the race to meet surging bandwidth demands. As Cybernet prepares to modernize its network infrastructure, Nokia is proud to be helping transform Pakistan’s connectivity landscape with a 1.2T backbone.”
The deployment will enable Cybernet to provide reliable, high-speed internet and data services, supporting applications such as cloud computing, streaming, and enterprise connectivity. The network’s diverse routes enhance resilience, ensuring consistent performance across urban and rural areas. This initiative aligns with efforts to expand digital infrastructure, fostering economic growth and improving access to digital services for communities throughout Pakistan.
By leveraging Nokia’s advanced technology, Cybernet is positioning itself to meet the growing demand for bandwidth while contributing to regional connectivity. The project underscores the importance of modernized infrastructure in supporting Pakistan’s digital economy, enabling seamless integration with global networks and enhancing service quality for both local and international customers.
