The collaboration leverages Deutsche Telekom’s 5G network, enabling vehicles to connect via SIM cards to Unikie’s Marshalling Solution (UMS). The UMS integrates external LiDAR sensors to ensure precise and safe vehicle control, even in busy areas or low-visibility conditions. This technology supports efficient automation across diverse operational environments.
Deutsche Telekom hosts the UMS on an edge cloud, ensuring low-latency communication for near-real-time interaction between the system and vehicles. The cloud-based approach allows rapid deployment across multiple locations and supports secure, scalable operations through the 8ra project, which aims for Europe-wide interoperability. T-Systems, a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary, provides seamless IT integration, delivering high-performance, continuous solutions for customers.
Christian Hort, Senior Vice President Automotive, T-Systems: “We’re the only ones who can deliver the full package of SIM card, network, edge cloud, and system integration from a single source. In combination with Unikie’s software for automated driving, we’re shaking up logistics processes far beyond the automotive industry. In the next step, we’re set to scale into the European market thanks to our edge cloud and the 8ra initiative.”
This partnership enhances efficiency in logistics by combining advanced connectivity and automation, offering scalable solutions for industries worldwide.
