Just days prior, on June 21, BYD delivered its fifth car carrier, the BYD XI’AN, in Yizheng, Jiangsu, marking another step in expanding its maritime logistics capabilities. The BYD XI’AN is currently transporting approximately 7,000 vehicles to Europe, including destinations such as the UK, Italy, Spain, and Belgium, supporting BYD’s growing international presence.
China’s vehicle exports have shown strong growth in 2025. From January to May, the country exported 2.83 million vehicles, a 16% increase compared to the previous year. In May alone, exports reached 682,000 units, up 22% year-on-year. The rising export volume has increased demand for dedicated car carriers, and BYD’s self-operated fleet enhances its ability to manage transportation efficiently, supporting its global market expansion.
BYD’s overseas sales have also surged. In May, the company sold 88,640 vehicles abroad, a 133.6% increase from the previous year. Its new energy vehicles (NEVs) are now available in over 100 countries and regions. The company’s fleet, including the EXPLORER NO.1, BYD CHANGZHOU, BYD HEFEI, BYD SHENZHEN, and BYD XI’AN, has transported over 70,000 NEVs worldwide. The addition of the BYD CHANGSHA strengthens this capacity, facilitating the global distribution of Chinese automotive brands.
The expansion of BYD’s maritime fleet aligns with its commitment to sustainable logistics. The use of LNG dual-fuel technology in the BYD CHANGSHA reduces environmental impact while meeting the growing demand for efficient vehicle transport. This development supports BYD’s strategy to deliver clean energy vehicles globally, contributing to the worldwide adoption of sustainable transportation solutions.
