Casa dos Ventos’ Babilônia Sul hybrid solar-wind power plant in Bahia, Brazil, featuring NX Horizon smart solar tracker.
The contracts involve the deployment of Nextracker’s NX Horizon and NX Horizon-XTR all-terrain solar tracker systems. Thiago Rezende, Casa dos Ventos’s construction and operations director, stated: “Partnering with Nextracker gives us confidence in the long-term performance and reliability of our projects.” He added: “Nextracker’s strong track record, focus on engineering excellence and ability to deliver high-quality solutions make it a trusted technology partner for the future.”
The hybrid plants aim to optimize grid capacity by integrating solar and wind energy at shared connection points, addressing Brazil’s constrained transmission infrastructure. The NX Horizon-XTR system, already installed at the Babilônia Sul, Babilônia Centro, and Seriemas sites, is designed for challenging terrains, reducing costs by minimizing land preparation needs. All four projects will incorporate Nextracker’s TrueCapture system, which uses sensors and machine learning to adjust tracker angles dynamically, enhancing energy output under varying light and terrain conditions.
Alejo Lopez, Nextracker’s vice-president for Latin America, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating: “Securing a multi-project commitment from a renewable energy leader like Casa dos Ventos reflects the growing importance of trusted partnerships when it comes to performance and long-term reliability in today’s solar industry.” He further noted: “We are honoured to support Casa dos Ventos with solutions that are engineered for resilience and optimised for each of its unique environmental site conditions.”
This partnership builds on Nextracker’s global presence, with the company recently selected in June 2025 to supply NX Horizon solar trackers for the 550MW Oricheio PPC Ptolemaida solar photovoltaic park in Western Macedonia, Greece. The collaboration with Casa dos Ventos underscores the increasing demand for reliable and innovative solar solutions to support Brazil’s renewable energy goals, leveraging advanced technology to maximize efficiency and sustainability across diverse landscapes.
