The Lucky 7 Solar project is expected to deliver clean energy to the ERCOT-North market grid by 2027.
This sale marks the second collaboration between OCI Energy and Sabanci Renewables, following the successful transfer of the 120 MWac/156 MWdc Project Pepper solar project. Project Lucky 7 Solar, spanning 745 acres, is now advancing to construction and is expected to supply clean energy to the ERCOT-North market grid by 2027 under Sabanci Renewables’ management.
Sabanci Renewables’ CEO, Tolga Kaan Do?anc?o?lu, stated: “Project Lucky 7 marks another significant step in delivering clean and reliable energy. The acquisition aligns with Sabanci Group’s 100-year legacy of responsible growth and long-term value creation.” The company aims to develop a 3-gigawatt renewable energy portfolio in the U.S. by 2030, emphasizing sustainable and reliable energy solutions.
Both companies expressed interest in pursuing further project opportunities, focusing on energy solutions that prioritize security, reliability, and affordability. OCI Energy, known for developing sustainable and reliable energy projects from site selection through construction, maintains a diverse portfolio targeting up to 10 gigawatts by 2028. In December 2024, OCI Energy partnered with CPS Energy to develop a 120 MW/480 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system in Texas, reinforcing its commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure.
The sale of Project Lucky 7 Solar underscores the growing emphasis on renewable energy development in the U.S., particularly in Texas, where the ERCOT grid supports increasing demand for clean power. This collaboration between OCI Energy and Sabanci Renewables highlights their shared commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions to meet future energy needs.
