
According to BT, the renewed partnership will bring key benefits to customers, including improved scalability, resilience, cost efficiency and stronger security. These enhancements align with the company’s broader aim of creating a more flexible and responsive digital environment.
BT Group’s chief strategy and change officer, Tom Meakin, stated: “This isn’t just a technology upgrade – it’s a customer promise. By modernising our systems with AWS, we’re creating the agility to respond to customer needs faster, deliver more reliable services, and introduce new features that make everyday interactions with BT simpler and more secure.”
AWS vice president of telecommunications, Jan Hofmeyr, highlighted the customer-first approach of the partnership, saying: “BT Group is putting customers at the centre of its continued cloud transformation. By working with AWS, BT is innovating faster, resolving issues more quickly, and delivering smarter, more secure services that better serve today’s digital-first consumers.”
The partnership also forms part of BT’s “Build, Connect, Accelerate” strategy. As part of this initiative, AWS technologies will be integrated into BT’s mobile network, with applications in Core operations and the Radio Access Network (RAN). These integrations are expected to improve efficiency and provide stronger foundations for future network evolution.
In addition, BT is introducing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning capabilities to its Network Operations Centre. These technologies will be used to automate processes and enhance monitoring systems. Meakin explained the company’s long-term vision: “Our ambition is to build a network that thinks ahead – one that can fix itself before customers even notice a problem. We’re in the early stages of this process, but through our work with partners like AWS, we’re one step closer to making it a reality.”
