“This investment reinforces our commitment to being a reliable partner for customers across personal care, home care, and industrial sectors,” said Mary Kurian, President of Care Chemicals. “By expanding our APG production in Thailand, we’re enhancing regional supply capabilities, enabling faster, more flexible service, and supporting the growing demand for sustainable, high-performance solutions.”
The Bangpakong plant will complement BASF’s existing global APG production sites in Düsseldorf (Germany), Cincinnati (Ohio, USA), and Jinshan (China). A separate capacity increase is already underway in Cincinnati, with a new production line scheduled to start operations in 2026, further expanding North American output.
Alkyl Polyglucosides are mild, non-ionic secondary surfactants produced entirely from renewable, natural raw materials. They are readily biodegradable and offer excellent formulation compatibility, making them suitable for a wide range of applications in personal care products, household cleaners, industrial and institutional cleaning formulations, technical processes, and agricultural solutions.
The Thailand expansion directly addresses rising regional demand for bio-based, high-performance surfactants across Asia-Pacific markets. By adding local production capacity, BASF will be able to reduce lead times, respond more quickly to customer requirements, and maintain consistent supply reliability throughout the region.
The project forms part of BASF Care Chemicals’ broader strategy to build a resilient, geographically balanced manufacturing footprint that can efficiently serve all major growth areas worldwide.
Construction and installation work at Bangpakong is progressing on schedule, with the new APG facility expected to begin commercial production in the coming years. Specific capacity figures and exact startup dates will be announced as the project reaches subsequent milestones.
With the simultaneous investments in Asia and North America, BASF continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading suppliers of sustainable surfactant solutions derived from natural feedstocks.
The enhanced global network will enable the company to meet increasing customer preference for mild, environmentally compatible ingredients while maintaining high standards of performance and formulation versatility across diverse end-use segments.
