Zevtron, ParkMobile, and Athena Partners Strategy Group have teamed up to assist charging site owners and electric vehicle (EV) drivers impacted by Shell Recharge’s decision to end its EV charger software support. Shell Recharge is phasing out its Shell Sky software for third-party commercial EV chargers in the United States and Canada. The company will maintain service for commercial fleet chargers until April 30, 2025, after which many stations will cease functioning, affecting numerous EV charging locations across the US.

To address this, Zevtron, ParkMobile, and Athena Partners Strategy Group are implementing Zevtron’s white-label EV charging software to reactivate the affected chargers within the former Shell Recharge network. Chris Mckenty, SVP of sales & marketing at Zevtron, stated: “Shell’s exit has left hundreds of chargers effectively stranded. Our goal is to rapidly restore these stations to full functionality while enhancing their capabilities with flexible branding, seamless payment options, and improved management tools.” This effort aims to bring the stations back online with upgraded features.

ParkMobile is contributing by integrating its payment system to handle EV charging sessions alongside parking services. Andy Harman, vice president of sales at ParkMobile, explained: “Integrating EV charging parking sessions into ParkMobile simplifies access for millions of drivers who already rely on our platform.” This allows users to manage both parking and charging through a single, familiar interface.

Athena Partners Strategy Group is collaborating with municipalities, businesses, and property owners to ensure smooth deployment of the new system. Nick Stanton, managing partner of Athena Partners Strategy Group, noted: “We see this as a major opportunity to not only restore EV charging infrastructure but also improve it for the long term.” Their role focuses on coordinating logistics and enhancing the network’s future reliability.

The collaboration offers a comprehensive solution designed to maintain service continuity, improve usability, and increase revenue potential for site owners. By replacing Shell Recharge’s discontinued software, the partnership ensures that hundreds of charging stations remain operational beyond the April 30 cutoff. The initiative, announced on February 24, 2025, responds directly to the needs of EV drivers and property managers affected by the shutdown.

This joint effort leverages Zevtron’s software expertise, ParkMobile’s payment infrastructure, and Athena’s strategic coordination to deliver a practical fix. The restored chargers will feature customizable branding and enhanced tools for operators, while drivers benefit from streamlined access.
