The South Coree BESS will be located approximately 6 kilometers west of Finley in the Riverina Murray Region, covering 13.8 hectares (34.1 acres). The facility aims to enhance grid stability, reliability, and efficiency while supporting the integration of additional renewable energy capacity into the region’s power network.
Earlier this year, Samsung C&T announced plans for the 250-MW Samsung Romania photovoltaic (PV) farm, paired with a 150-MW/600-MWh BESS, near Hay in the same Riverina Murray Region. Valued at AUD 230 million (USD 146.5 million/EUR 129.3 million), this project does not require EPBC review, as regulators determined it will not significantly impact protected areas. The project is slated for commissioning in late 2026.
The South Coree BESS project reflects Samsung C&T’s commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Australia. By facilitating energy storage, the facility will play a key role in balancing supply and demand, ensuring a more resilient and sustainable energy grid for New South Wales.
