At the MOU signing ceremony for the development and demonstration of Korea's mid-sized hydrogen power plant turbines held at Doosan Enerbility's Changwon headquarters on May 22nd, Vice Chairman Jung Yeon-in of Doosan Enerbility (right) and President Lee Jung-bok of Korea Western Power are signing the document.
Under the MOU, Doosan Enerbility will focus on advancing the technology for mid-sized hydrogen turbines and securing manufacturing capabilities for related components. Korea Western Power will oversee the integration of these turbines into new power plants and conduct on-site performance testing to ensure reliability. The partnership aims to align with national goals to increase clean hydrogen use in power generation, contributing to a stable and sustainable energy infrastructure.
The collaboration also emphasizes working with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises involved in the project to strengthen the supply chain and support the global export of Korean hydrogen turbine technology. This initiative is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Korea’s energy sector in international markets.
Jung Yeon-in, Vice Chairman of Doosan Enerbility, stated: “Through this partnership, we will develop Korea’s mid-sized hydrogen power plant turbines and lay a solid foundation for domestic hydrogen power stability. We also plan to aggressively pursue overseas expansion.” The development of these turbines is part of Doosan Enerbility’s broader commitment to zero-carbon power generation technologies, with plans to complete both 90MW mid-sized and 400MW large-scale hydrogen turbines by 2028.
This agreement strengthens Korea’s position in the global clean energy market by fostering innovation in hydrogen power technology. By combining Doosan Enerbility’s technical expertise with Korea Western Power’s operational capabilities, the partnership aims to deliver reliable, eco-friendly energy solutions domestically and abroad, supporting the transition to sustainable power generation.
