The agreement leverages Jinko ESS’s advanced G2 Utility systems technology and METLEN’s expertise in global energy solutions.
The agreement expands on an existing 1.6GWh BESS project in Chile, expected to be fully delivered by the fourth quarter of 2025. Jinko ESS CEO Fangkai Zhou stated: “METLEN’s proven energy infrastructure capabilities and Jinko ESS’s technological innovation create an unmatched value proposition for grid operators. This framework ensures long-term supply security while accelerating the clean energy transition in strategic markets.” The partnership focuses on supporting renewable energy integration through reliable storage solutions.
METLEN’s M Renewables executive director Nikos Papapetrou emphasized the collaboration’s potential, stating: “By joining forces with Jinko ESS, we are combining cutting-edge storage technology with our expertise to unlock large-scale, resilient energy infrastructure. METLEN is a global leader in green energy, with an overall 12.7 GW pipeline in various stages [and] locations and more specifically 2.6 GW in storage, proving its longstanding efforts to advance energy transition.” The agreement underscores both companies’ commitment to sustainable energy development.
In May 2025, METLEN secured six engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts in the United Kingdom for five solar parks and one BESS, with a combined capacity of 313.4MW, valued at £110 million ($147.64 million). Additionally, in April 2025, Glenfarne acquired four operational solar assets and 1.61GWh of BESS under construction in Chile from METLEN, further highlighting the company’s active role in the region’s renewable energy sector.
The partnership between Jinko ESS and METLEN is set to address growing energy demands by providing scalable storage solutions that enhance grid reliability. By leveraging advanced technology and global expertise, the collaboration supports the transition to cleaner energy systems in key markets, contributing to sustainable development and efficient energy management for industrial and utility applications.
