The export of wheat reached 6.218 million tons, which is 1.715 million tons, or 27.9%, less than in the previous year. Despite wheat remaining the dominant export crop, the reduction reflects a slower pace of shipments compared with last season.
Exports of barley totalled 1.089 million tons, down 56.6% year on year. The ministry also reported that only 0.2 thousand tons of rye were exported abroad during the same period, maintaining its minimal share in the country’s overall grain export structure.
Meanwhile, corn exports showed a significant decrease, amounting to 1.903 million tons, which is 3.249 million tons, or 170.7%, lower than last year’s figure. The sharp decline highlights the continued challenges faced by Ukraine’s grain sector in maintaining export volumes at previous levels.
In addition to grains, 21.5 thousand tons of flour were exported, equivalent to 28.7 thousand tons in grain terms. This is a reduction of 4.7 thousand tons, or 21.8%, compared to the corresponding period of the last marketing year.
Overall, the decline across all major crop categories — wheat, barley, corn, rye, and flour — indicates a significant contraction in Ukraine’s total grain export performance for MY 2025/26. Factors contributing to the decrease were not specified in the ministry’s statement, but the data underscores a general slowdown in the pace of agricultural exports compared with the same stage of the previous year.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food continues to monitor export trends for all major crops, providing updated statistics throughout the marketing year. The ministry’s figures reflect shipments of key agricultural commodities through various export channels and help assess the country’s overall trade performance in the global grain market.
Despite the current reduction, grain exports remain a key part of Ukraine’s agricultural sector, supporting both domestic production and international trade relations. Future export volumes may depend on upcoming harvest results, logistical capacity, and conditions in global agricultural markets.
The latest figures show that while Ukraine continues to maintain active participation in global grain trade, its export pace has declined notably compared with last year, reflecting a contraction in the supply of major cereals and related products during the early months of the 2025/26 marketing year.
