Work under these contracts is scheduled to commence shortly, with completion expected by late 2025.
Grete Aspelund, head of NCC Industry, stated: “We have secured half of all the state asphalt contracts in Norway ahead of the coming season, 19 overall, for a total value of about Skr1bn. This shows clearly that we are a key player in the Nordic market and that we have a competitive offering.” These contracts strengthen NCC’s position as a leading provider in the region’s infrastructure sector.
NCC is committed to sustainability, implementing measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in its asphalt production. The company employs wood pellets for energy, uses biogenic binding agents, and incorporates reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) to enhance environmental performance. In line with Norwegian regulations, all contracts signed this year include a 30% environmental weighting criterion and require environmental product declarations (EPDs) to ensure sustainable practices.
Work on these contracts is set to begin soon, with completion anticipated by late 2025. The financial value of the contracts will be recorded in NCC’s Industry business area during the second quarter of 2025. These projects highlight NCC’s expertise in delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions across Norway.
Beyond these asphalt contracts, NCC has recently expanded its portfolio. The company was selected by property owner Hemsö to transform Mälardalen University’s ‘S’ building in Västerås, Sweden, into modern office spaces. Additionally, NCC secured a contract from Swedish mining company LKAB to build a new recycling center in Kiruna, further demonstrating its versatility in construction and infrastructure development.
NCC’s focus on sustainable practices and its ability to secure significant contracts underscore its role in advancing environmentally responsible infrastructure. The company’s efforts contribute to Norway’s goals for greener construction and efficient regional connectivity.
