Umicore N.V., based in Brussels, Belgium, plans to enhance its production capacity for homogeneous catalysts at its facility in Catoosa, Oklahoma, USA. This expansion will ensure multi-ton supply capabilities from both Europe and the U.S., supporting long-term agreements with major players in the specialty chemicals industry.

Homogeneous catalysts are widely used across sectors such as fine chemicals, functional materials, polymers, and pharmaceuticals. These catalysts improve process efficiency, reduce energy use, and minimize waste, contributing to a lower environmental impact. Umicore’s advanced technologies enable industries to achieve sustainable and effective production methods.

The project involves constructing a new facility at the existing Catoosa plant, with construction set to begin in 2025 and production expected to start in early 2027. This development will strengthen Umicore’s position as a global leader in Grubbs Catalyst technology, known for its precise and reliable chemical production capabilities. The company also produces Grubbs Catalysts at its facility in Germany, ensuring a robust supply network across two continents.
