This marks Viettel’s fourth successful participation in the 700MHz band auction. The B2 – B2’ block is crucial for achieving 99% population coverage by 2030, thanks to its long-range propagation and strong penetration. It enables efficient coverage in rural, mountainous, and remote areas, along highways, and in high-rise urban buildings. Technical studies show its coverage radius is 1.8 times greater than the 1,800MHz band, reducing deployment costs significantly while improving user experience.
The 700MHz band, designated by Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology for IMT-Advanced (4G) and future standards, will support Viettel’s deployment of high-speed, low-latency 4G/5G mobile broadband services. These services will facilitate entertainment, remote work, online learning, IoT applications, and smart solutions for cities, agriculture, and traffic management. Viettel plans to integrate the new frequency band into its infrastructure immediately, aiming to establish a robust 5G network with over 20,000 base stations by December 31, 2025.
Major General Tào ??c Th?ng, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, stated: “Securing the B2 – B2’ block of the 700MHz band in this auction is extremely significant and timely for Viettel to realize Resolution 57 of the Politburo, aiming to build a high-speed, secure, and reliable digital infrastructure platform that connects citizens, government, and businesses, accelerating the adoption of digital technologies across all aspects of societal life, from urban to rural areas.”
The acquisition strengthens Viettel’s commitment to expanding digital infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and supporting Vietnam’s digital transformation. By leveraging the 700MHz band’s capabilities, Viettel aims to deliver advanced telecommunications services, fostering economic and social development nationwide.
