The Khavda-I project has been rolled out in phases to expand renewable energy capacity and contribute to India’s clean energy transition. With the latest 212.5 MW addition, NTPC Renewable continues to progress toward completing the full project capacity of 1,255 MW. The project is expected to provide reliable renewable energy supply while supporting grid stability in the region.
Alongside the Khavda-I progress, NTPC Green has also put into operation 37.5 MW of solar capacity in Gujarat under a separate hybrid project. This development is part of a larger 100 MW hybrid renewable energy project, which combines solar and other energy sources for optimized performance. The project is being developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four, a subsidiary established under the ONGC-NTPC Green Energy joint venture.
The commissioning of both solar projects demonstrates NTPC Green’s strategy of expanding renewable power generation through diversified projects across the country. The Khavda-I solar PV plant, in particular, highlights NTPC Renewable’s role in developing one of the country’s significant solar installations under the CPSU framework, aimed at increasing domestic renewable capacity.
The hybrid project developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four also reflects efforts to integrate solar capacity with complementary resources, which can help balance intermittency and enhance efficiency. Such hybrid projects are considered important for improving the utilization of renewable energy while ensuring stable electricity supply to consumers.
According to NTPC Green, these latest additions align with its broader plan to accelerate renewable capacity expansion. NTPC Green and its subsidiaries are continuing to implement large-scale renewable projects with the aim of contributing to India’s renewable energy targets. The company’s joint venture with ONGC further illustrates the importance of partnerships in building hybrid and diversified renewable projects across different regions.
Together, the commissioning of 212.5 MW at Khavda and 37.5 MW under the hybrid project adds nearly 250 MW of new solar capacity to NTPC Green’s growing portfolio. These projects represent significant progress in advancing solar and hybrid renewable energy initiatives in Gujarat, supported by both NTPC Renewable Energy and collaborative ventures such as Ayana Renewable Power Four.
By steadily commissioning projects of this scale, NTPC Green Energy is strengthening its position in India’s renewable sector and contributing to the expansion of solar and hybrid power generation capacities across the country.
