The BESS project has a storage capacity of 1,944MWh and a four-hour discharge duration.
According to the agreement, Enfinity Global will continue to oversee the permitting process and all development activities for the BESS installation. The company stated that this partnership is part of its broader capital formation plan and will strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure while supporting the transition toward sustainable power.
Julio Fournier Fisas, general manager of Enfinity Global Europe, said: “This strategic equity and development partnership underscores the exceptional quality of our geographically diversified portfolio in Italy and highlights our proven execution capabilities. Together with our partners, we are accelerating the deployment of critical infrastructure that will enable Italy to achieve its climate goals while fostering economic growth.”
Enfinity Global currently holds a development pipeline in Italy that includes 2.6GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) and 5.3GW of energy storage projects. Of this capacity, 245MW is already operational, while an additional 564MW is under construction. The company noted that its Italian projects represent a key component of its European expansion strategy, aimed at integrating large-scale renewable generation with advanced storage systems.
The new agreement follows Enfinity Global’s recent success in securing €316 million ($368 million) in financing for a portfolio of eight utility-scale solar projects across Italy. The funding, finalized last month, was arranged as a club deal with ING, Rabobank, and BNP Paribas acting as mandated lead arrangers, lenders, original hedging counterparties, and coordinators for the green loan.
The financing package included €214 million in nonrecourse senior debt and an additional €101 million allocated for VAT, letters of credit, power purchase agreements, PV modules, and decommissioning costs. The projects, located in Emilia-Romagna, Basilicata, and Lazio, are expected to have a combined generation capacity of 276MW and are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
Enfinity Global emphasized that these initiatives align with its goal of developing reliable, low-carbon energy assets in Europe and promoting sustainable energy transitions. Through its combined solar and storage developments, the company aims to contribute to Italy’s renewable energy targets, enhance grid stability, and stimulate regional economic growth.
The Emilia-Romagna BESS project, once operational, will represent one of Italy’s largest energy storage facilities, supporting greater flexibility and resilience in the country’s electricity system while helping balance the integration of intermittent renewable energy sources.
